Banjo the Dachschund and his favorite human, Rick Slater, had been best friends for more than a decade. Being an inseparable pair, they took their daily walks together, but there was one incident that changed their lives and made their relationships stronger. Both of them were facing a serious health problem and with each other’s presence, they knew that they could overcome the challenges. Banjo had a back injury the very same week Slater had a stroke.
Banjo’s injury was unexpected because he was doing perfectly fine. It happened quickly when he could no longer use his back legs. According to Olivia Capron, Slater’s granddaughter, Banjo’s injury was unexpected because he was healthy until they saw him drag himself without any support for his back. When Slater found out that Banjo had a leg injury, they rushed him to a vet clinic for some treatment options. No one had a clue how Banjo got back injuries.
When the poor Dachshund was examined, surgery was the option offered to Slater. However, the procedure was expensive and the veterinarian could not guarantee positive results. Slater was also warned by the vet that Banjo’s condition could lead to the dog’s depression since he was enjoying an active lifestyle. Despite the pain that the injury had caused, Banjo remained a cheerful dog.
Since surgery was not an option, the vet decided to equip Banjo with wheels for his back legs so he could normally walk. Banjo and Slater were on the road to recovery and since they did not stop taking regular walks, both of them were able to regain their mobility. The team who assisted Banjo and his family could not believe the progress that the dog made. In no time, he was able to feel his legs and get around without using the wheels.
The team called him a miracle dog because of his heartwarming recovery. Slater was also happy that he and Banjo were able to survive tough times because of their love and support for each other.
