Joe Biden’s supporters rejoiced for their candidate’s victory after the national elections in the United States. However, people, especially those who love dogs, have another thing to celebrate about Joe Biden’s new assignment. For the very first time in about four years, the White House will have dogs again.
This is because Joe Biden’s dogs will be heading with him to the White House. But another historic thing about it is that Major, Biden’s German shepherd, will become the first rescue dog to live at the most powerful address in the country.
More about Major
In 2018, the Biden family took in Major from a shelter named Delaware Humane Association. This was 10 years after they welcomed Champ, their first German shepherd.
At the time, the Biden family said that they were thankful for the Delaware Humane Association’s work in helping Major and other animals find their forever homes. Major was initially fostered by the Biden family before he got adopted.
Major had a sad back story, though. He was one of the German shepherd pups taken to the shelter who were all not doing well back then. The Delaware Humane Association posted that they needed help, and that was when Joe Biden decided to reach out to them.
The Biden family is a dog lover
The Biden family, apparently, is a big dog lover. Champ and Major are fixtures in the family’s social media pages. They even have made some appearances leading up to the elections.
During his campaign, Biden also reiterated that he wanted to bring the dogs back to the White House. Since news about Biden’s triumph spread, a lot of pet influencers have shared their happy sentiments. Doug the Pug was one of them, even typing in capital letters on Twitter. Actor Justin Theroux somehow teased that he was already looking forward to setting up Major with Kuma, his dog.
