It’s an age-old belief that cats and dogs have mutual animosity; hence the expression “fighting like cats and dogs.” But some dogs and cats actually prove the adage wrong, and in some cases, the cat is one of the dogs!
A Japanese couple shares the adorable bond between their cat and three Shiba Inu pups. One of the owners explains that she has to persuade her partner, a full dog-person, into getting a cat.
The cat blends in with the pups
One of the owners explains that her reason for getting a cat to expand their family is rather simple: she used to own a cat in the past. Her husband, however, is not that fond of cats. Every time she brings up the plan, the husband refuses.
After some time, the woman is able to find a cat that her husband will also like. It is an American Shorthair cat, which the couple has named him Kiki. They immediately introduce the cat to his Shiba Inu siblings.
The couple starts documenting the inter-species relationship on Instagram. Through the photo-based platform, they have amassed 200,000 fans as of this writing.
Kiki easily fits with his siblings. The owner says Kiki is getting along with pups just fine, but one of the dogs starts barking at the cat. Thankfully, one of the Shibas named Saki barks back, providing Kiki the protection he needs. At that point, the owner understands that Kiki and the dogs have become true companions.
A harmonious relationship, indeed
The owner adds that it’s a common impression that it’s the dogs that get used to the sleeping schedules of their humans and that cats can be jerks, as they get up early and wake their humans up. However, Kiki is very much different; he sleeps with the rest of the family. That only shows how harmonious the family’s relationship is.
The dogs also give respect to Kiki’s cat tendencies. They are usually quiet at home, allowing Kiki to rest whenever he pleases.
