A couple was hiking when they heard some crying down by the creek. To their surprise, an utterly exhausted and malnourished dog was lying by the side, giving birth to puppies. The couple immediately took the dog and her three surviving puppies to a nearby shelter.
Hopalong Animal Rescue, a rescue shelter in Northern California, got in touch with Thom McCallum, who decided to foster the family right away during the quarantine. He spent their first day at home assuring the adorable puppies and reserved mama dog that everything was okay, he meant well, and they were safe.
Ruby, as Thom named her, was an incredible mom to her three puppies named Jax, Kirby, and Tito. Ruby was still a bit distant and was guarding her puppies from Thom. Thom couldn't wait to play with the puppies, but they spent their days sleeping. So, he spent his time with Ruby instead, trying to get her to warm up to him and trust him more.
A lot of days passed before the puppies finally stood on their own and were big enough to play with Thom. Thom was having the time of his life playing with the puppies, chasing them around, and lying with them on the bed. Sometimes, they would run around in the yard or go for walks. As a photographer and videographer, Thom made sure to capture each precious moment with the four adorable dogs.
Then came a time that Thom finally gained Ruby's trust and love. She refused to leave Thom's side. Wherever in the house, Thom was, Ruby followed.
It was not long after that Jax, Kirby, and Tito got adopted by loving families. Jax lives a couple of miles away now and is spoiled by his new family. Kirby got herself an awesome family of her own while Tito lives next door. Ruby is already home with Thom and continues to follow him around wherever he goes.
